Nigeria Calm Ahead of Nigeria vs. Ethiopia 2014 World Cup Playoffs Second leg
In a few weeks the Super Eagles of Nigeria will look to to pick up their 2014 World Cup ticket when playing host to Walia Antelope of Ethiopia in Calabar. The Nigeria team won the first leg 2-1 in Ethiopia and heads into its home game with a clear advantage. But can Ethiopia pull a surprise?
Comments from Nigeria’s players have given everyone reason to believe that the team is calm and collected in the time between the two legs.
“We are not under any pressure after our win in Ethiopia. They will be the ones under pressure. We will play good football and score loads of goals to qualify for the World Cup,” said Super Eagles player Victor Obinna Nsofor “The altitude (in Ethiopia) affected most of us and we waited for them in the first half to give us what they have.”
“It was a difficult game for us all, but we fought as a team to get the needed result.
“I was introduced to stabilize the midfield and I did it to the best of my ability but sincerely my best is yet to come for the Super Eagles,” he added about his performance. “One thing I can say for now is that I will continue to give my all for this team to ensure that we make our country proud, for sure.”
Ethiopia needs a 2-0 win to qualify for its first ever World Cup. A 2-1 win would extend the game to extra-time and potentially force penalties.
