Ibrahim Sunday blames dwindling quality of Ghanaian players on failure
to win Africa Footballer of the Year Award.

1971 African footballer of the Year Award winner, Ibrahim
Sunday believes no Ghanaian player has won the CAF Player of
the Year Award since 1993 due to the dwindling quality of the
nation’s players.

“The quality of Ghanaian players have come down and that is one
of the things that have contributed to Ghanaian players
not winning the African Footballer of the Year,” Mr.
Sunday told Goalpost360.com

No Ghanaian player has picked up the Africa Player of the Year
Award since the three-time winner Abedi Ayew Pele last
received the prize in 1993.

On Thursday night, Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure beat
fellow Ivorian international Didier Drogba and Nigeria’s John Obi
Mikkel to win a third straight CAF Player of the Year Award in
Lagos, Nigeria.
